The Addiction Recovery Ministry (ARMS) is a nonprofit organization that provides free addiction treatment and recovery services for adults and teenagers.

Substance abuse is a growing problem. A recent government study that showed that substance abuse grew by 400% in the decade from 1998 to 2008, and with ongoing increase in illicit use of prescription drugs, rates of substance abuse are continuing to climb. According to the Centers for Disease Control, deaths from drug abuse outnumbered deaths from car accidents in 2009, with a drug related death occurring every 14 minutes. With the associated loss of income, healthcare expenses and crime-related costs, the cost of substance abuse is estimated around $600 billion annually. Clearly, the effects of substance abuse are a huge problem for not only the person suffering from addiction and his or her family, but for society as a whole.

While addiction rates in small towns and urban areas may be the same, access to treatment is not. Lack of available programs is only one of the obstacles to recovery in a rural location. Lack of insurance, low income, lack of transportation, and social stigma are other barriers to treatment.

Addiction recovery is a multi-faceted process, and there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution. ARMS offers an addiction recovery program for both teenagers and adults that is structured to meet each individual’s unique needs. The program includes a twelve-step recovery program and a series of life skills classes that are designed to help people learn new behaviors and make better choices in all areas of their lives. All of ARMS’ services are provided free of charge in order to make addition recovery accessible for everyone.

The ARMS Life Recovery program receives funding from local churches and individual donors. We hope that you consider donating to this worthy cause.

Statement of Need:

◊ Maintain the ability to have enough materials to meet the need of our services, approximately 20 classes per week.
◊ Example: The Recovery Bible and Workbook costs $30, Anger Management Books costs $33, materials for individual classes range $6-12 per client.
◊ Metaphorical Turning Point manuals are $5 each.
◊ Instructor manuals are approximately $5 or more.
◊ Transportation for clients are approximately $20-50, or more per week.
◊ Rent, Utilities, Office Supplies, Drug Tests/Screening Kits average $1,350 per month.
◊ Utilities, Supplies, Transportation and Maintenance for the Men’s Unit averages $1,100 per month.
◊ Funding for the new:
• Single Women’s Center
• Women’s Center for Mothers and their children

Previously, we provided services for our clients for 4 days a week. Due to the increasing demand and expansion of our client base we are now open 6 days a week. 10:00am to 4:00pm Monday – Friday and 9:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday. Also, there are Saturday nightly group sessions and weekday night meetings every day, except got Friday.
